  1. 71,000 bikes were stolen in 2006.  Unless you keep it inside 24 hours a day, the best investment is a Lojack system.  It may not keep your bike from being stolen, but it will alert you if somebody is messing with your bike, and the cops can locate it quickly in the event it does get stolen.

  2. chain... wheel lock, alarm.... and let everyone know you have a big gun even if you dont... i live in a pretty bad hood and not many mess with my bike.... i have had a few sitter's but i let them all that hang out if i found out someone was messing with my bike..... id set them on fire and watch them burn before i drove off

  3. Decent alarm system

    Disc locks

Combined disc lock and "alarm system" (Xena)

Serious chain, in combination with floor/wall anchor, and/or a garage around the bike

Lojack, if your bike is worth it and your wallet can handle it

Always, always put the steering lock on if you are going to be off the bike for even a few seconds. It just takes two suitably determined opportunists, a pickup truck and 20-30 seconds - put the steering lock on and you make it significantly more difficult.

And never underestimate the value of riding a beater-- it won't change the mind of opportunists, but it will definitely discourage the eBay chop-shoppers.

  4. A pair of bolt cutters will ruin most theft prevent ideas. Go with the Lojack.

  5. I keep mine in the living room!

  6. Criminals tend to be opportunists:

*If you put something visible on your bike (i.e., Kryptonite bicycle lock, trucker's chain+padlock), most of these jerks will move on to easier pickings.

**The Kryptonite lock is easier to pack if you ride with a backpack or saddlebags.

**The trucker's chain+padlock is WAY visible, but heavy, and you'll get out of the habit of securing your ride after awhile ...

*Kryptonite and chains are relatively easily defeated by the more determined crooks, and disk locks are almost as easily removed as the chewing gum from under your fenders ...

**The LOUD alarms are good, unless you live/work in a REALLY crappy area; whereupon you'll probably be staring down the barrel of a 9mm., if you come outside to investigate ...

**Lojack is expensive, but most of the more sophisticated (the above-referenced, "ebay" crooks) losers can usually find the transponder within a few minutes (motorcycles have far fewer hiding spaces for these things than do cars ...).

I guess you really have to be more specific about where you park your ride (apartment complex, office park, gym, school, etc.), and why you are concerned that it may be stolen.

*Your insurance company might have some good tips about what THEY think works, AND they might just give you a break on the premiums if you implement their suggestions ...

    Good luck.

  7. stering lock, chain lock , wheel lock or an alarm or any thing to stop it from moving

  8. All the above plus an NRA sticker.

  9. Common sense and getting into the habit of locking it every time you get off of it for more than a few seconds. Low jack in conjunction with an alarm system. Remember all these things only keep an honest man honest. If someone really wants your motorcycle, there is not much you can do to prevent it.

  10. A heavy chain and a good lock. Chain it to an immovable object.
