What are some good ways to make homemade oil/gas?

i heard that some cars can run on used frying oil.Is this possible?If it is how?

  1. It is possible only in Diesel engines, as diesel fuel is an oil already.

    Frying oil has low energy content, so it won't burn as well, but you could use it if you strain it first, to remove all the impurities.

    If you want, once you have the purified oil, you could convert it to biodiesel, by transesterification.  This would involve infusing it with methane.  What you would end up with, is something very close to #2 diesel, and would work very well in your engine, with one caveat:

    It acts much like a solvent, and may attack some types of seals.  It has also been reported to dislodge rust and crud from tanks and fuel lines, thus causing filters to plug prematurely.  If that's not a problem for you, then go for it.

  2. It is oil, is it not? I suppose they might strain/purify it a bit first. Filter it and use agents to destroy the starches in it.
