Question:

What are some good ways to relieve tension?

I do all of the obvious stuff like exercise, eat right, sleep, talk to friends, and I have two dogs, as I've read that taking care of pets is a good tension reliever. I also meditate sometimes, but if anyone has any other tips, I'd appreciate them. Thanks all.

  1. I'm not the sporty type, so to relieve tension I do things I like, like see a movie all on my own (i get all the candy to myself), take nice baths or showers, go shopping, take long walks in nice parks, play super nintendo, have chocolate lattes while reading my favourite books...

    I wouldn't recommend getting a pet as a quick fix at all! They are like babies at first and will make you more stressed. They will pee everywhere, need constant attention and cry at night. Also, if they're not in a cage they will make a mess and knock all your vases, plants, pictures down and you will freak.

    I would d*efinately* recommend a fish tank. They are sooo serene and calm, you can watch them and admire their beauty and they dont run around and pee on your laptop. Also they are low maintenence as long as you get a big one, not one of those kiddie ones.

  2. Taking a B-Complex vitamin or getting all the B-vitamins from food is supposed to reduce stress.

    There is a kind of tea that helps me relax.  It is called "Tension Tamer" and is made by Celestial Seasonings.  It really works when you're tired and stressed out in the evening.  It works way better than Chamomile teas...at least for me, it does.

    Also, I've heard that some people relieve tension by writing out their problems in a notebook...and either keep what they wrote, burn it, or throw it away.  

  3. I've noticed a lot of people have been going to Yoga or Pilates. I'm also under a lot of stress and tension and was told to try out Kickboxing.
