What are some good ways to spend some quality time with my 10 year old son?

I want to be able to give my 10 year old some one on one time.I know in a few years he will want to spend less time with us.

My 9 and 11 year old are in to Monster Trucks, concerts, Festivals, all kinds of them!....car races.......tractor pulls......and just plain ole parks and play and swim, etc!  We like to go to the hotel in the winter and just SWIM!!! They love that!!!!! No one to bug them and eat anything they want and swim all day and night.....YES!

AND.......we go to the Levee , there's a bookstore they adore, where we sit and they read and we drink latte and they drink high powered fruit drinks. haha

Try doing activities that he is interested in as a family. For example, if you are not too busy on the weekend do laser tag one weekend, go bowling another weekend. Think of creative things to do with your son.

my son is 9 years old....and in school he loves science, so many times just listening to him tell me about what he's learned makes a huge difference to him!  

You would be surprised, but sometimes just regular old family stuff is what they remember......get down on his level once in a while and play whatever it is he is playing.  (kids love this)

Have him help you with a project in the yard or in the kitchen...etc....some kids love to feel like they contributed to something meaningful to the family/parent....ask his opinion on things....like

I need help deciding which pictures to put in the album....let him help you pick....

just the fact that you are asking is reassuring that you do and will spend great quality time with your son.

Here are some things we do with our ten year old. My husband and he have taken up bike riding and when the weather is good, they ride 30 miles a day. He loves it. When the weather is not so good, we go and rent a video game but we make it old school, like Mario 3 (so we have  a chance) and then we have a tournament. It is nastalgic for us and it is a blast for him. Mom actually has a few tricks up her sleve in Mario games hehe. My son and I have found a favorite TV show and each week we tape it and just the two of us watch it with icecream. No one else is allowed in the room. We watch House but it could be anything. Long Car trips are good to reconnect too. My husband and son are signing up for a karate class. In my opinion, the key is to find something that they like and that you can at least stand. This shows them that you are interested in them and doesn't bore them. Good Luck. I'm hating the day when my ten year old is too busy for me or thinks that hanging with Mom is lame. Sigh. It will be here all too soon.

Go to a sporting event! Baseball... Hockey... Football... all of those are so much fun to do with friends and family!

go to the park and throw a ball.

Do what he likes. If he likes bowling go bowling. If he likes swimming then go swimming. You get the point.

I would take him paint balling, rock climbing or to a park to go in a paddle boat that's what my brother likes to do and what i do with the children i babysit
