What are some good ways to stop your cat from biting?

We just began to foster a cat, Katie, and she has acclimated very well. The only thing is that whenever you pet her on her stomach she likes to bite. She is mainly playful but has been getting more aggressive. She was also declawed by her previous owner.

  1. Don't pet her on her stomach. Maybe she's ticklish. Have you ever heard a cat laugh? Being declawed has nothing to do with it. My two cats are not declawed but, they still have to get them clipped.

  2. Your cat might not like people petting her stomach.  She doesn't have claws, so biting is the only thing she can do to let you know if she doesn't like something.  If she bites, let her know that it hurt and spray her with water or something.  When you play with her, make sure to use toys that are longer, so she can bite the toy and take her frustrations out on it.

  3. Well since she is a playful cat she is probably trying to play with you but she doesn't know that it harms humans as much as other cats, with other cats it's normal play to pin each other on the ground and and bite them but another theory is that cats normally don't like to be touched around the belly area, so stay away and if she is biting when you pet her just normally it's because she is either very aggressive or she wants you to stop petting her so she can go and do something else but if she does bite no matter what bop her on the head and say  no

  4. Then don't pet her stomic!

I have one that like her stomic pettet and one that HATES it!

  5. I have experienced that with one of my cats and learned not to touch her stomach. Like yours, mine does not like to have her stomach touched either. In place of your hand use a toy instead. It will save your hand from getting scratched up and both of you should enjoy it.

  6. Get her some toys and encourage her to play with these.  She's just playing with you as she would other kittens but I know from experience that it hurts!  My cat does this too and I tend to walk away when she starts biting me, to teach her that it isn't good.

How cruel that her previous owner had her de-clawed, I'm sure you'll be a much better owner.

  7. Please don't rub the stomach. Some cats like it and some cats don't. Your cat doesn't like it so don't rub its stomach! My cat bites me so I stopped.

  8. she is either biting because she is playful or she doesn't like to be petted on the stomach. some cat's hate to be petted on the stomach
