there are many options the web, networking let people know you are looking, what you are looking for and maybe someone knows something they can refer you to.  Also remember looking for a job is a full time job.  So get up every day like you are going to work and go out and hit the pavement.  Sometimes waiting for someone to respond to a posting can take months.  Also when out be prepared dress nice, have plenty of resumes on hand.  I remember I went to fill out an app once and they asked for three copies of my resume.  Luckily I had them but I also thought why not make copies I know they have a copy machine but I guess it was a test.  Have your references on hand in case they want them on the spot as well and try not to use family members and if you must make sure the last names are different and if you remember who ever you use as a reference let them know you are using them so they are not shocked or surprised to get a call from a possible employer or at least give them heads up so they can answer the phone properly.  And if you have any weird messages on you answering machine or voice mail change it to a simple you reached so and so cant come to the phone please leave your name and number and I will get back to you soon.  Hope this was some help now go do your thing.
