  1. You do not need them for the tryouts.

If you make the team, they will give you your uniform, which includes the spandex shorts.

    Also,

    good workouts:

    - Squats

    - Leg lifts

    - Lifting weights

    - toe raises

    - jogging

    - jump roping

    - lunges

    - stretching

    - pushups

    - sit ups / crunches

  2. you probably don't need spandex for the team but my friends say that they are way easier to move in than shorts

for the workout: if you have access to a gym, do squats, leg extensions, tricep extensions, sprints, toe raises with weights etc.

if you don't: i usually do toe raises, squat jumps, pushups, crunches, tricep dips, back hypers and sprints outside if you have a place to do it.

you can do that while you watch tv or something. do all of the gym exercises with a little weight and a lot of quick reps. you want your muscles to be lean and quick, not strong/ slow and bulky

    good luck at the tryouts

  3. At the gym:

Squats (if you can, add weight, like the bar use in bench pressing)

Calf raises (hold about ten pounds of weight in each hand)

Bench press (make sure you have a spotter)

Any weight lifting machine that help with your quads and general leg strength

Run at least 20 minutes on the track

    Outside the gym:

Run for at least 2o minutes

If you have a at home work out video like Turbo Jam use that for 20-30 minute

draw a ladder and go through the routine at least twice

    squat jump

    jump rope

Remember to stretch before (high knees, butt kicks, lunges, ect) and after (quad stretches, stretches in place) Don't mix them up because when you do the stretching meant for afterwards you basically telling your muscles to relax.

As for spandex, unless you make the team don't worry about it, but don't wear basketball shorts, they're too long.

    Good luck at try outs!
