  1. The are several other forms of government that would suit the citizens of this country very well. The first one that comes to mind would be imperialism. The idea of Manifest Destiny was originally from coast to coast. Why not push that one step further. East to west AND north to south. A collective effort to turn the entire western hemisphere into one giant super-country (read:empire) capable of sustaining itself both politically, economically, and industrially. The oil fields of south america, the grain basket of the american midwest, and imagine miles upon miles of solar panels covering the southwest and powering millions of homes. Not to mention, the endless debates of illegal aliens and NAFTA would be at an end. One country, one military, one currency, one set of laws, and multiple cultures.

  2. The Founders of the constutition created a Republic. In the pledge of allegiance, we pledge to the Republic of the United States, not democracy.

In a democracy, people rule, which means if 10 people voted and decided to kill you, you would die.

But in a republic, the law rules. If 10 people think you committed a crime, you would get a fair trial and even then, 12 jurors all have to agree your guility before you are killed.

  3. The one we have. A Constitutional Republic where the government is formed through representative democracy. We don't have a democracy because it would mean eternal meetings in every city, town and village to debate and vote on every issue. Such a system only works for selecting a winner on "American Idol".

What is sad is the number of people who want to change our form of government but have never ever read the Constitution which is the charter of that government.

  4. Seeing as we have the ability, a democracy wouldn't be a bad form of Gov to try.  (as was pointed out, we have a republic, not a democracy.)

If we had a democracy, popular vote would decide who wins the presidency.  Instead, because we are a republic, we have the electoral college, so popular vote doesn't 100% matter.

Seeing as we have a semi cloaked version of it already, despotism might work to.  I call it a cloaked version of it, as it doesn't matter which party is in power, the same stuff happens no matter what.

  5. Socialist since you get free healthcare and a lot of free other government provided things, I wonder why almost all of Europe and Canada has this incorperated in to it.
