It has a cool option wherein you just choose the anime you've already watched and loved, then it shows you a list of similar anime, other titles that are similar in plot, story line, characters, animation, etc

Aside from that, it also has lots of information on thousands of anime. Information like: Synopses, Reviews, year started, year ended, etc.

Let's take Death Note for example.

You sound like someone who would enjoy Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni. I couldn't stomach it, but maybe you're tough enough.

I would suggest either Trigun or The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. The downsides to these are that they're both very short (Trigun has 26 eps, Haruhi has only 14 so far) but you can watch them either dubbed in english or with the better, original voice actors in japanese with subtitles. Haruhi has a new season due out soon too I believe.

P.S.- Naruto/Shippuden and One Piece are very good shows with more...history (250+ eps each)

naruto/naruto shippuuden is most def one of d BEST ANIME/MANGA EVA!!!

also fruits baskets is very sweet and romantic! d characters are VERY HOTT!!

Vampire Knight is also great!! what's not to love? Hott teenage vampires!! did i mention they're HOTTT!!!!!
