What are some good cities to visit in Europe that aren't too touristy and somewhat educational? A group of people I know are looking into a few places to visit next summer for a few weeks and we want to indulge in a lot of different places & cultures, but none of us are very experienced with overseas travelling, as we're in America. Thanks :)

  1. Don't pass up Switzerland.  Zurich is fabulous and Geneva is the money city and moreso French, whereas Zurich is French and Swiss German along with English.

  2. Go to Vilnius, Riga and Talinn. All 3 are capitals of the Baltic countries, and have only been independent since 1991. There aren't THAT many tourists yet, compared to London, Paris or Madrid, these cities are empty. You can also speak English, I would say 50% - 60% of people you talk to would understand you, at least in Vilnius. All 3 countries have long history that isn't really out to the American public yet, which shows the unheard of for people west of Berlin

  3. My Favorites would have to be Rome,Venice and Salzburg.. but you can go anywhere you want, it's all gorgeous. Paris was actually a let down for me, but it all depends on your taste. reasearch the cities online for your tastes and see if that particular city has it!

  4. thessaloniki
