He works out on job sites everyday so does not have access to a microwave. Now, he works from about sun up till sun down and needs enough food to keep him fed throughout the day. I usually pack him a wrap or sandwhich on a hoagie bread, I have Roast beef, turkey, hard salami, and colby jack cheese with tomoato and lettuce. Then basically we try to have one fruit (fruit cup or peach) and the rest are snacks. What should I add to be more healthy and what is okay for him to eat? He has gained a little weight and we're trying to slim him down a little.

  1. crab legs a sandwich and doritos and some soup rome noodlels

  2. It seems like the lunches you've been packing for him are a good start. You should use whole wheat bread or something, over white. If you use mayonnaise or any other condiments, make sure they're low on fat. Why not include a side salad with low-fat or fat-free salad dressing? Yogurts can be healthy, too, but he'd obviously need something to keep it from getting warm and spoiling. I'm sure you could find Weight Watchers snacks in your local supermarket, too, to replace the usual snacks with. Cereal bars and fruit are good choices. Make sure he's drinking a lot of water over soft drinks or energy drinks or even juices or Gatorades.

    Good luck!

  3. slim fast and salad

  4. protien water is good carrot sticks, almonds, turkey jerky

  5. Cereal bars. More fruit. Rice.

  6. make some soup and put it in those thermos cup things

  7. Fresh Apples!

  8. Sandwiches - Brown bread, cut up some thin slices of fresh lettuce, some cucumber and grate some cheese. Also have and energy drink to dim the hunger and snack on sweet fruits, like strawberries

OR now in the canteen what they do is get plastic containers (bowls) and cut up salad and litttle chunks of chicken.

E.g. Cut up lettuce, Cucmber, Tomato and you can use grated cheese instead of chicken

These oatmeal lovelies are easy, scrummy, and usable as a face mask!

    You need:

    350g uncooked oatmeal

    200g wholemeal flour

    135g raisins

    35ml semi-skimmed milk

    2 eggs

    2 tbsp honey

    1 1/2 tsp nutmeg

    1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Pre-heat your oven to 220 C. Sieve the flour, cinnamon and nutmeg into a bowl. Then add the honey, eggs and milk. Stir until you have a smooth mixture, then mix in the oats and raisins. Chill the dough in the fridge for half an hour or so.

Then roll out and cut with cutters - try different shapes to funk them up. Pop onto a greased baking tray and bake for 12-15 mins. When they're cool, share 'em out!

For an added beauty boost, use the leftover oats from your lush oatmeal cookies to make a skin-saving face mask. Just mix the oatmeal with water until it forms a paste. Apply to your face, leave for ten minutes, then rinse off.

Ignore the face mask part :)

  9. Avoid salami as it is very fatty and oily. If he is looking for a filling breakfast that will sustain him until lunch time, buy egg whites. They are pure protein without fat and cholesterol and fill you up just as much as regular eggs. I usually have 3/4 cup of them every other day. Its the equivalent to 3 eggs.

  10. We used to make this wrap at the health food cafe i worked at-- it was called a California wrap. it was a whole wheat tortilla with some reduced-fat cream cheese spread on it, some turkey, a strip of bacon, lots of lettuce and tomato with some avocado. It's a good guy-friendly way to serve him a bunch of veggies, since most guys won't touch salad voluntarily.

Also, most guys are protein freaks, but meat is high in calories and cholesterol. Find out which nuts or seeds he likes the best-- a handful of some nuts and seeds mixed with dried fruits and or a whole grain cereal makes a nice trail mix snack that will keep him feeling full between meals.

Don't use fat-free dressings on salads as many have suggested.... Most of the vitamins in a salad are fat-soluble. That means that with a fat-free dressing you are wasting your time with salad because you won't use the nutrients. Use a low-fat dressing- or better yet a healthy plant-based fat dressing like a vinaigrette with olive oil- which is a heart healthy fat.

  11. Fruits and veggies are easy.   thx

  12. Sandwiches work great for lunches, just be sure to make healthy ones. Try lean meat instead of fatty meat, go light with the cheese, lettuce and tomato are great, definitely go for the whole wheat bread. Fruit is also great, and try to go for fresh fruit as much as you can. You could pack him a little baggy of mixed nuts, like almonds, peanuts, and hazelnuts. It would be best if he brought a mini cooler for the nuts, though, because they have oils in them and stay fresher when cool. Vegetables make for excellent healthy snacks, too. Pack him some mini carrots, celery sticks with peanut butter, or whatever he likes.

  13. dr. pepper and some chili dogs
