What are some great ancient and historical sites in Europe not connected to Rome/Greece?

It's difficult to find nice historic and ancient sites that are not connected to ancient Rome or Greece. Also, not castles.

  1. I don't think it's difficult, on the contrary it would take too long to list them all. When you think of all the countries and you only exclude the classic period, Greece&Rome, then everything else is what you're looking for.

    There are numerous sites from periods before the classics as well as after it.
