with ADHD. The arts and crafts really keep her mind occupied. I am trying to come up with ideas for her daycare that are inexpensive, as I will have to buy them for the whole room. There are not that many kids but it can get very expensive if we do this everyday. She is 5 and has to stay there for summer only. Thanks!

  1. This is a site for children but I kind thin something on here can be enlarged and possible use with her or other with ADHD.  Please let me know as if it comes up again I would definitely recommend it to others.  Make sure you check out the whole page.  and please give her a hug from me as I miss my children since they have gown up and gone away

  2. I'm surprised the day care isn't coming up with their own ideas.  It's good, though, that you're willing to come up with ideas and bring supplies in.  One idea may be to have her come up with some ideas she likes.  She'll feel empowered, and will focus on it more if it's her own ideas.

One thing you could do is to decorate their own shirts. You could get the stuff for tie-die, or some simple fabric markers/paint and stencils for them to take a plain white t-shirt, and make their own design. Have the teacher tell each child to bring in their own white t-shirt, and you can provide the tie-dye relatively inexpensively.  It's something they can be proud of after.

One thing I did with my 2 year old granddaughter, but that I think a kid of any age would enjoy was to make homemade bird feeders. We took pine cones (with some sort of string already tied on the tops), spread peanut butter on each of them, and then rolled them in bird seed. Then we took them outside and tied them up for the birds to eat the seeds. It was something that everytime she comes over, she wants to see the birds, and what they've eaten. I'm sure they'd be inspired to watch the birds to see them eating it, and could add more at any time once they're empty.

Also, if you do a search of "fun activities for kids" you'll get many sites that will come up. Some of the sites I saw when I did this even had pages you could print for activities they could do.

    Good luck, and have fun!!

  3. What You Need:

    1.Markers

    2.Construction Paper

    3.Scissors

    4.Tape

    Directions:

Cut construction paper into any shape. Then take marker of any color.  Write or draw anything you want on the shape. (The tape is to put it on the childs dress or shirt. or you can just put it on the wall.)
