I'm worried about the dollar going down the tubes. I'm looking to buy some stock in foreign companies to insulate from further decline of US currency. Thanks!

  1. My downright favorite is PBR on the NYSE. It is Petroleo Brasileiro, the national oil company of Brazil. Brazil is now a net exporter of oil due to their use of sugar cane ethanol in almost all their cas.. PBR is in nice correction right now, so you might accumulate at this price. They have the largest oil discovery in the last ten years so we expect growing income. They also pay dividends. Check out that chart of the last 10 years, and look at the correction it is going through right now. Of course oil needs to pick up again for them to do well. I expect it to pick up in late winter after the typical correction of late summer and fall are over. I do cover this stock, oil, and other market issues on my blog:

  3. I've got three suggestions for you to look into:

    1. Look at ETFs that track foreign currencies:

    2. Look at ETFs for countries with more fiscally responsible governments than ours. Two that come to mind are Switzerland (EWL) and Singapore (EWS).

    3. Have a look at CDs you can hold in foreign currencies such as those offered by EverBank:

  4. BIDU, BHP, Tata Motors (don't have symbol)
