I have 2 toddlers who are hungry hungry hungry, but I dont always have time to give them a sitting-down snack. sometimes we're doing errands or having fun! what do you feed your kids when they need something NUTRITIOUS, PORTABLE and NOT TOO MESSY?

feeding my kids nutritious food is very important to me, so I stay away from snacks that are loaded with sugar like granola bars or fat and salt like many crackers. it's kind of too bad because those things would be really convenient!! any great ideas?

  1. pb sandwiches cut into shapes, carrot sticks and low-fat dip, sliced apples and grapes, bite size cheese cubes, string cheese, sliced turkey on a whole wheat tortilla, zucchini and ranch, green beans in a plastic container, low-fat croutons, raisins, blueberries, yogurt bars, and bananas. I am also into healthy foods since my daughter has genetically high cholesterol and she is on a low-fat, high fiber diet, and also has a couple of allergies. Most of these things work well in the car too!

  2. A few things I bring include bananas, blueberries, carrot sticks, raisins, peanut butter sandwiches, cheese sticks, bread sticks, rice crackers.

  3. Pasta in any shape or form (alphabet letters preferred). It tastes okay when cold, mix it with some green peas, or little tomatoes, or some parmesan. It will fill up the tummy just right:)

In addition: cheerios, bananas, one butter cookie, a peeled apple, a delicious bun or a piece of real italian bread to munch on, carrots, broccoli florets, a simple sandwich.

Yes, sometimes I just throw a piece of bread and a slice of cheese into a sandwich wrap and off I go. Then I put it together later...When the kid gets hungry enough, he'll eat it:)

  4. I have found that in the rice cake section they have handy little snack packs with different flavor drizzles on top - they are portable and not messy.  Both of my toddler boys love them!!  The rice cakes are mini, bite sized ones.

Also I take bags of grapes with us and that is always a favorite of theirs! I just get the large grapes and cut them in half so they are safer.

  5. I think the best way to feed your kids nutricious stuff is to give them Fruits. Like the one that is low sugar. Or get cereal and put it into a lil bag. That always help.

    Or Give them Vegetables

  6. I buy gerber graduate snacks to take along.  Even my 6 year old likes them.  Also they like the pediasure (nutripals I think they are called).  cereal bars which atleast have vitamins and nutrients in them.

  7. Cherios in a baggie are moms best friend. Whole grain oats, low sugar, portable. Also, try seedless grapes, berries, raisins, craisins... One of my kids favs was dehydrated bananna chips, sweet like candy.

  8. Well I give my daughter animal crackers low in fat. Pretzels. I also do veggies. Like baby carrots. Celery. Its not to messy.

  9. String cheese is great.  Raisins mixed with Kix cereal  is what I give my toddlers in the car.  My children have food allergies, so I shop at Vitamin Cottage most of the time, there are these gluten free rice bars by Enviro Kidz, they love them.  Rice crackers are good and do not contain junk.
