  1. Years ago I got inspired by the lid of a cheesecake, it was a yellow circle, I then went out and bought some coloured cardboard and cut out different size circles and covered one wall in the kids playroom, looked good.  You can do the same thing but use only two colours for a more sohpisticated look and keep the circles in a pattern (not random) cost $5.00

Or, you could put up every single pic you have (need bluetac or tape or something - cost $2.00 - $5.00) including postcards, cards, posters etc.

Or, use cd inserts to cover your wall - depending on how many you have, you could do rows (horizontal?) or the whole wall.

Or, the old, cover the wall in cd's thing

Or, old record covers from thrift stores, there are some seriously funny ones out there, or even just the records for an uber retro look.

Or, get some coloured tape (electrical or painters masking tape or whichever has a colour you like) and put up a grid pattern with it

Thats It, I'm out of ideas, hope you find something fun to do.

  2. You could go to a second hand shop. they often have surprisingly cheap decorating items. I once got a hanging sculpture for around $8. They also have some posters or other random nick naks that can be used for decorating like beads.

You could go to a fabric store and buy a cheap fabric that you could hang from the walls. This can look quite cool and it is a change of colour without painting.

Instead of painting on the actual walls you could buy some canvas and paint them block colours and hand them on the wall. or you could buy a stencil or you could make your own and paint onto them. These can be quite classy looking it you find the right one.
