  1. That's a very good question.

I would recommend Tandoori Chicken as it uses very little oil and its not fried. According to me, it doesn't taste as good as some of the other Indian dishes, but I know a lot of people who love Tandoori Chicken. Maybe you give it a try.

  2. Go for dal (lentils), raita (yogurt), or chole (chickpeas).  Bhaigan Bharta (a smoked eggplant dish) is good for you as long as it doesn't have too much oil in it.

Stay away from things with the terms "makhani" or "malai" as those refers to richer, cream-based sauces.

Look for dishes with a lot of different vegetables in them, and go for more vegetarian dishes in general.

Naan is often made of all-purpose flour.  Go for roti, bhakhri, or paratha.

Lassi is probably not a good option even though it's made with yogurt, since many places add things like ice cream to it.  Mithai (sweets) tend to be heavy, so stay away!

  3. you can find some recipes from this website - http://www.dummychef.com

i have tired some of them, yummy!!!

  4. if you get bread, get naan because it's baked not fried. see if they have a dal on the menu, it's split peas but usually not made with as much ghee or oil like almost everything else on the menu. usually anything "masala" is a little lighter than all the fried/sauteed items too. but remember, you get rice with just about everything and the desserts are very tempting, so it is rather difficult to stick to your diet when you get indian food to go!
