What are some historic and ancient sites in Nigeria?

Question

I was curious to know what ancient monuments/historical sites there are in Nigeria, but I cannot seem to find much. Nigeria has a very old history and many ethnic groups, so I feel like there should be a lot of interesting places...

Have you been to or do you know of any historical sites in Nigeria?

Realistically, there are very very few such sites in Nigeria.  This is because: Africans living in Nigeria long ago rarely used building materials that would last a long time, and Nigerians are terrible at valuing and preserving what little there is.  The north is a little different -- cities like Kano have a few places where the old city wall -- or a German-built replica -- still exists, but honestly, unless you were going to Kano anyway, there's no way you should make a special trip just to see it.  Jos has an outdoor architectural museum that's pretty interesting -- small-scale replicas of a few ancient mud-wall palaces.
