  1. Earl grey and chammomile tea bags... crazy but true, i used to get pink eye or conjunctivitis when i was a kid. Black tea is great because the tannins help draw out and dry out the infection, the bergamot in earl grey tea has antiseptic and antibiotic properties. Chammomile is great for reducing the redness. The great thing about tea bags is that if you pour hot water on them, then let them cool till their warm, the warmth helps reduce swelling while the contents of the tea bag are providing good stuff to get rid of the infection. Other things you can try is just warm salty water or a few drops of eyebright tincture with 1 cup boiled water, cool and strain. Dip a cotton ball in this eyewash and gently wipe the eye and its surrounding area. Eyebright is an old school herb that was used for hayfever and tired and inflamed eyes. you can get it from good health food stores.

  2. You need a prescription.  Pink eye is EXTREMELY contagious and painful.  I have had it and it hurts.  Don't mess with home remedies on this one.

  3. It's not really a home remedy, but I just got a homeopathic medicine from wal-mart. It's called Simalisan pink eye relief or something like that. It cleared up my sons pink eye in a few days, and it didn't spread to anyone else in the home. You don't need to see a doctor for a little pink eye. Good luck!

  4. Ask your pharmacist. I believe they now have an over the counter remedy.
