  1. Maybe it 'got more confusing' because the online stuff is not homeschooling; if it is online, it is distance education.

If you want to be homeschooled then all it means is that your parents choose to pull you out of school and 'go it alone' with your education. In effect, your home would become your school, a private school that is owned and run by your parents where your parents are the teachers, principal, administrator, school board etc!

In homeschooling, your parents (rather than any school, the State, local school district or anybody else) are responsible for providing you with your education; your parents have to plan, organise & teach you your lessons and then assess your learning and how you're going. Your parents also have to pay for everything.

Your first step to getting homeschooled has to be to talk to your parents and find out how they'd feel about it. You have to have their permission to homeschool because they have to pull you out of your current school, take care of all the paperwork etc and pay for everything.

You (and they) can then check out the details of how to go about it and what local requirements there are (very few in Texas) by going to: http://www.hslda.org/hs/state/TX/default...

Basically, in Texas, you still have to do some maths, reading, spelling, grammar and citizenship but other than that, you and your parents are free to study whatever you want, in whatever way you want, whenever you want - no mandatory tests, no minimum number of schooldays.

You might also want to show your parents a website such as: http://www.youcanhomeschool.org/starther...  That'll help clear up some of the numerous misunderstandings that people have about homeschooling, what it means to be home-educated etc.
