What are some ideas for a student incentive program, grades 6-8?

Our teachers give out slips to students that can be redeemed for cutsie school supplies (pencils with feathers on top, pens with a little light on it, etc.) and practical school supplies. These would "cost" around 5 slips - not hard to do.

The "grand prize" is a week of free dress for 60 slips (students wear uniforms).

This went over pretty well, and we would like to expand the program.

What are some 1) good intermediate ideas (10 - 40 coupons), or 2) things that might entice less interested students?

  1. Try using "game time" to motivate kids.  Games can be educational, of course. I am a tournament Scrabble player and School Scrabble was started at least five years ago.  You can visit thew website of the National Scrabble Association, clicking on the link for School Scrabble.  You can order a kit to get started.  Philadelphia also offers Scrabble through their public library system.

Consider other games such as: Carmen San Diego, chess and any others that you find appealing as listed in a book on board games which you will find at the library.

  2. How about science "toys"? Magnets, magnet sets, balsa wood airplanes, yo yo's, magnifiers, models of frogs or ants.... Scholastic publishers has lots of this stuff.

Of course the best  incentives may be Tek Decks (mini skate boards)

bigger prize - iTune gift card, movie passes
