What are some ideas for volunteer work or community service for a 17 yr old boy?

When I was a teen I voluteered at the local hospital.  I loved it.  My sister volunteered at the library.  I became a teacher and she became a nurse, go figure.  If he is interested in a particular career see if he can volunteer somewhere related to that.  Some of my friends volunteered in other countries. However, you usually pay for these.  He will broaden his horizons and learn a lot.

Habitat for Humanity

Seniors in your neighborhood will need help with yard work

Church youth groups

Neighborhood/Church food pantries

School summer programs(my daughter used to do this with a group called  H2O(help to others)she loved it

City/Church free hunger meals like the City Mission

Local hospital ,As an attendant ,patient transporter(wheelchairs)

Go to your church and volunteer for some of their programs,

crisis centers can always use extra help, volunteer at the Red

Cross, give some blood, volunteer at a Nursing Home,  local

food bank, local hospitals, Senior Citizens can always use

extra help, animal shelters, volunteer at HOPE or CARE,

drive a bookmobile, volunteer at Meals on Wheels, Habitat

for Humanity can always use extra help, volunteer at a day-

care center, read to the blind, and the list goes on and on.
