  1. There is no literary merit to the book.

The book cannot be analyzed because there is nothing deep about it. There isn't much foreshadowing, not too much symbolism, not many references, and everything's so cliche and tired out. You can find plenty of description: purple prose, a Seven Deadly Sin in writing!

  2. "I do a good job of blocking painful, unnecessary things from my memory." Bella Swan

"I was aware of the time slipping away so quickly, like the black road beneath us, and I was hideously afraid that I would never have another chance to be with him like this again — openly, the walls between us gone for once. His words hinted at an end, and I recoiled fromcoulddea. I couldn’t waste one minute I had with him." Bella Swan

"About three things I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was part of him — and I didn’t know how potent that part might be — that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him."-----Bella Swan

"To me, it was like you were some kind of demon, summoned straight from my own personal h**l to ruin me."---Edward Cullen

"And you’re worried, not because you’re headed to meet a houseful of vampires, but because you think those vampires won’t approve of you, correct?" Edward Cullen

"Some things are more certain than others… like the weather. People are harder. I only see the course they’re on while they’re on it. Once they change their minds — make a new decision, no matter how small — the whole future shifts." Alice Cullen

"So many questions I still had for him. I could talk to him forever, never sleeping, never leaving his side. I could see his face so clearly now… almost hear his voice. And, despite all the horror and hopelessness, I was fleetingly happy. So involved was I in my escapist daydreams, I lost all track of the seconds racing by."  Bella Swan

  3. You give the book too much credit. There isn't much foreshadowing that I can think of other than when Edward says "What if I'm not good? What if I'm the bad guy?" (or something like that) to Bella and she realizes that she's been thinking the wrong things: the first step torward "vampire."

Meyer is famous for over-description, so I'm sure you could turn to any page and find a descriptive quote.

    Good luck...
