IF POSSIBLE, CARRY A KNIFE TO PROTECT YOURSELF.

i would say the culture is very important and people there are always showing it no matter where you are even in modern parts of Mexico that's part of it. if you're traveling to Mexico i would suggest learning at least some of the language most people end up making fools out of themselves when going to a place like that and not knowing what to say or do or how to communicate with the people that kind of tourist stuff gets on people's nerves. and about the water you have to ease into that kind of stuff. my best friend brought back gum from Mexico once and i opened the package trying to chew as many as i could and got sick, not from so much gum but i wasn't used to the type of ingredients they used in it. it's not that its horrible just something that Americans aren't used to. explore Mexico, learn about the culture and it's people don't be so friggin concerned with the pick pocketing and all the negative things about Mexico- i'm not saying don't worry about that kind of stuff but you shouldn't be absorbed in it the whole time you're there i mean seriously you're in another beautiful country! take it in and don't be so much of a tourist. get out there and get your hands dirty it's part of the experience.
