My girls are 3 and just started pre-school and I am looking for things to do with them that does not cost a lot of money b/c I am single mom and really can't afford to do the big stuff. Any crafts and outdoor activities would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

  1. On rainy cold days I always took my girls to Borders, Barnes and Noble or the library. They have story time and puppets etc.

  2. most of everybody else has already said is great. When I take our daughters to the park I keep a few coins in my pocket along with some marbles or beads. Then we treasure hunt and I will have a couple in my hand and drop them into the sand as we are digging it works great. they keep "finding " treasures and I put them into my pocket to hold. Hence the unending supply of treasures. Sometimes we really do find  a coin or two or even nuts or rocks that they think are very pretty get into it.  you can even make little bandanas. we decorate paper towel rolls to make telescopes and you can make binoculars with a toliet paper rolls glue two together and make a strap out of yarn. then just go exploring pretend you are i the jungle or in the sahara get some old maps.  you get the idea

  3. We go to the park a lot! We race and play hide and seek. Sidewalk chalk is another big outdoor thing we do.  We like to take walks and see how many trees we can touch and find things to count. Inside we dance to music all the time and put on silly clothes. She loves to put my clothes/shoes on and try to dance.

  4. Get a big box and build a castle.  Decorate with anything.

  5. Take her to the Children's Museum(hopefully there is one near  you) it's not too expensive and you can get a coupon  in parents magazine. Your daughter will have hours of fun and interaction with other children. Bookstores, libraries, classes at YMCA are not too expensive too.
