What are some instances in which government involvement in the economy has been a success?

Can you think of any instances in history like that? Like more efficient centrally planned systems or any source where i can get specific figures and numbers supporting government involvement in the economy

  1. To name a few:

    The Rural Electrification Act.

    The Interstate system.

    The US Postal Service.

    The Transcontinental Railroad.

    The Security and Exchange Commission.

    Public Education.

    Fire Departments.

    Public Health Care (outside the US, anyway).

    Public Universities.

    The military.

    All of these achieve results that the private sector would not/did not provide, at least not without strong government backing.
