  1. What kind of insurance are you talking about?  I don't know of any insurance companies that pay set salaries to the salesman but office workers get a set salary.


  2. If you want to be an insurance agent, you're going to have a lot of trouble finding one that pays a set salary. Think about it: insurance companies want their product sold. They are going to reward the agents who sell the most, and they should. If you're an agent who sells 20 car insurance policies a week, do you think the person who has sat on their duff and sold none deserves the same amount of money as you do? Now, you may be able to find an agency that does have a base minimum and then the more policies you sell, the greater your income. But after living with an insurance agent, I assure you, you can't live off that base minimum at all.

  3. Depends on the position you want.   Inside claims adjusters are usually salaried, as are receptionists, IT staff, underwriters, accountants, payroll dept, and other skilled support staff.  Janitorial staff, mail room staff, cafeterial staff, etc, are usually hourly.
