I wouldn't mind seeing a few museums, but I will only be there for a few days in June, so I don't want to spend my whole trip in museums. What are the best museums, and what else is there to do that I shouldn't miss. I also need hotel and restaurant suggestions.

  1. It is Rome! Just look around...trust me, you won't get bored. I went last summer and it is really easy to find things to do. It would take months to explore the entire city.

  2. get a hooker

  3. Vatican City is close by with St. Peter's and the Sistine Chapel, the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Roman Ruins, many many restaurants and shops

  4. I'm gonna be in Rome for a few days this July, so I'm in a similar situation. I bought the Eyewitness Guide Top 10 Rome which was only a couple of bucks and has a lot of information. As for hotel suggestions, I looked on hostelworld.com and venere.com and found some good possibilities, it depends on how much you're willing to spend. Venere.com is nice because it shows you the location the hotel is in, and it has user ratings and comments which are really helpful in choosing a place to stay. I've heard that the most beautiful places to visit are the ruins, the Colosseum, and the Vatican, and I know that all three of those are on my list of places to see.

  5. When in Rome, do as the Romans.

  6. I suggest to you to visit the small "private gallery" museums, like Museo di Palazzo Altemps, Galleria Borghese, Galleria Doria Pamphilij, Galleria Spada. If you like Caravaggio there are 3 churches in Rome that contains 6 of the most important masterpieces of Caravaggio (S. Luigi dei Francesi, S. Agostino and S. Maria del Popolo).

Don't forget Musei Capitolini and Musei Vaticani, but they are very big musems (about one day for Vaticani, about 3-4 hours for Capitolini).

    Don't miss:

    S. Pietro

    Colosseo and Arco di Costantino

Foro Romano, Fori Imperiali and Palatino

    Piazza del Campidoglio

    Piazza Navona

    Piazza di Spagna

    Fontana di Trevi

    S. Ignazio

    S. Ivo alla Sapienza

    Via dei Coronari

    Campo de' Fiori

    S. Maria in Trastevere

The best restaurants in Rome are:

    Sora Lella

    Giggetto al Portico d'Ottavia

..and also Checchino dal 1887, Taverna dei Mercanti, Hostaria dell'Orso
