This is for a project for kindergarten student. He needs to find items in the house that represent a variety of shapes. The items need to be glued/taped onto a piece of paper. Any ideas?

  1. what fun! I love parent participation projects.

Let's see - triangle - cut a food pyramid off a box of food

Octagon - do you have one of those shape games?  That's a little tougher -

Hexagon - again, do you have one of those shape games?  I would just put the hexagon and octagon from that game coz those two shapes are a lot more difficult to find around the house.  Good luck.

  2. got a cookie cutter set?

  3. As a former parent of 2 kindergartners, I've been where you are now, and I can testify that the easiest way to do this assignment since it needs to be glued onto a piece of paper is to find a catalog or magazine and look at every page for household geometrical items.  Tear the page out and put it aside to cut figures out later.

  4. Some game board spinners are hexagonal or octagonal.  Potentially, the padding some people put on chair legs to prevent them from scratching a wooden floor can be those shapes as well.  You might also have some light socket safety plugs in those shapes.  Perhaps stickers?  Depending on what kind of TV remote you have, it might also have buttons in any of the three shapes, though I'm not sure if you'd want to sacrifice that for the length of the project.  You might have some chopsticks or hair accessories with those shapes as well.  Good luck!

  5. Magnets from the fridge if you have.

Triangle let me to think of sandwiches you can draw it on a paper or bring pre pare a real sandwich.

  6. Pencil (octagon)

    Post it note (square)

    Penny (circle)

  7. Just off hand the only thing I can think of would be fridge magnets or children's magnetic shapes.I think I have foam shapes for crafts but I'd have to check.i'll get back to you if I think of anything.Do you know the corners you can use in scrapbooking, they are triangle shape.Do you have a picture of a stop sign, perhaps in a magazine for the octogon.A picture of a soccer ball for the hexagon pattern.I have a pencil case with a soccer ball which shows not only a hexa gon shape but a penagon as well.Too bad you can't glue a pencil case on paper.
