For example:

- A Vietnam War ammo case as a purse

- An ice bucket as a garbage can or a place to hold plastic bags

- A heavy glass vase as a remote control holder

- A metal cigarette case as a gum/Kleenex holder in a clutch

So, how do you reuse things (instead of adding to landfills)?

  1. I use large juice bottles, after we drink the juice of course, to put our ice tea in.  Or fill cleaned milk jugs with water and freeze them in the deep freeze, then take them on summer camping trips...they stay frozen a very long time.  Use dryer lint and parafin wax to make fire starters for the fireplace, campfires, or charcoal. Save junk mail to start fires in the fireplace.  Use grocery bags for lots of things.

  2. All my plastic grocery bags become lunch bags, trash bags, overnight bags.

I have old cd's (even ones that went bad) covering one wall of my computer room, makes a really cool look.

We make shoulder bags from used capri-sun packets. Sewn together, of course.

I've made bird houses out of coffee cans.

  3. even though glass is recyclable, I've used several "fun" alcohol bottles as betta fish bowls

  4. my gatorade bottle as a water holder. OMG!!!

  5. i had a free standing closet with two doors on it that had a center divider down the middle. one of the doors got broken, so i took the other door off and turned it on it's side and made my daughter a desk out of it where she can color and stuff. it's white and it's like particle board. the center divider serves ar a shelf where she can lay paintings to dry or put her art supplies. it turned out pretty good!
