I am enlistin in two weeks, and my recruiter told me to have at least 5 jobs in mind for what I want to do. The problem is I don't know what I would like to do! I got a 95 on the practice ASVAB and am studying up so I can maintain that score when I take the actual ASVAB. I was told to consider going in as a linguist, but I just don't see myself enjoying that, I never cared for languages in high school! I want to fly, or at least be able to travel quite a bit, but I'm worried my Mechanical and Electrical scores won't be high enough to qualify for an Airborne position. Does anyone have any ideas as to what careers to look into further?

  1. Join the Navy and tell them that you want to be an Anti-submarine Warfare operator. That s what I was for four years saw all of southeast asia. Apply for P-3's the best duty in the world.

  2. If you interestied in an aviation mechanics job go with 15T (uh-60 Blackhawk repairer, or 15U (ch-47 chinook repairer). They use enlisted guys for crew chiefs and flight engineers (for the chinooks). You will have to work your way up to flight status, but you will fly. If your main goal is to fly and travel on a regular basis dont get talked into any other aviation job, those 2 are the only ones that will get you there.

  3. If you join the USAF,a load master is a job that travels a lot and to exotic locales.Plus if you decide to leave after your enlistment, the big freight companies (UPS,etc) will be knocking at your door. Good luck and thanks for your

    future service.

  4. Jet pilot.

  5. you could do crew chief, load master, boomer(works the pumps for the flying gas station, really cool job), usually the mechanics travel with the aircraft. If you're not happy with your ASVAB score you can retake it before you enlist. Look through the Air Force website because if you don't have a job in mind you'll become a cop. A great job but very hard at times.

  6. Crew Chief...you'll be in the air a lot.  Know this.....the conditions on the flight line suck.  I wanted to work electronics on instruments on air craft.  I couldn't lift the 70 lbs.  That was the best thing that ever happened to me.  The flight line is hot, cold, windy, dirty, smelly, noisy, and thats just on a good day.  I loved my temperature controlled high security site I ended up working in.   What I'm saying is .....keep your options open.

  7. Nurses and technicians as medical crew on medical evacuation flights. But, that's Air Force.
