I've just been thinking about college and the future, and I wanted to know where people are needed.

Technology, Nursing and ancillary help, Teaching. I would also learn foreign language or two if you are able. They pay more for the ability to communicate.

Anything technology related, computers are always advancing and will always be in demand.

Anything in the healthcare industry, there has been a constant shortage of health providers (from MAs to DRs), for about 50 years now.

Business administration is another good way to go, because every company needs office help in one way or another.
