  2. What is really needed is a doctor or physician that focuses on special needs student's especially for young adults. After special needs student's leave the "pediatrician" stage, doctors are sometimes at a loss of how to treat them.

  3. You should Check out Occupational Therapy.  It is a great field and in high demand right now.  You can work in the schools, or in a rehab center or in a group home.  There are so many options.  You would be helping them with fine motor(writing, cutting ect.) Gross Motor(running, walking, crawling) sensory motor(processing noise, movement) Organizational skills. It is very rewarding and filled with so many different opportunities!

Here is a great site for you to check out!

Other Options are Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Therapeutic Support Staff, Behavior Specialist

    Good luck and Bless you!

  4. Helping disabled children, and a job that pays well are mutually exclusive, Im afraid!

  5. Teach them all to read, type and become computer literate. then teach them to trade over the internet. Great money - good work and no slave labour.

  6. School psychology, speech/language therapist, physical therapist, audiologists, adaptive technology specialists and occupational therapist (as previously mentioned) come to my mind and pay more than a special education teacher.  Sometimes much, much more.

  7. Why does it have to be children? They don't outgrow it.

If you want a job that pays a lot of money, stay in school until you have a Master's degree in therapy, special education  or social work.

    .

  8. Go all the way through college and get an EdS,  Ph D. or Ed D. in Leadership or Administration.  Work your way up as a special education teacher, assistant principal over special education, then become a principal. From there you can work at the county office as the Director of Special Education overseeing all special needs students in many capacities.  This of course will take time, but eventually it will pay well. If you're in it for immediate money, I would recommend another field.

  9. I believe the job that helps disabled children the most are teachers; special education teachers, speech/language therapist (who often are also teachers).  While there are other occupations that help indirectly, a teacher works very closely day to day with the student, so they ultimately have the biggest impact on the student.  I am an educator and I do feel that the salary for educators is pretty good when considering the number of hours and days worked within a year.  Prior to my work in the educational field, I worked in 50-60 hours per week and received only 2 weeks off per year.  My workweek in education equates to about 35 hours per week, 185 days per year.  That's not much work for a decent salary with benefits.

  10. i know you can at high schools but i dont know the pay
