Question:

What are some key shopping areas in Toronto?

I'm going to be in Toronto for a layover of about 5 or 6 hours on the Civic holiday, and I know that most stores are open. I'll have a very small carry-on with me that I can check and I was thinking that I could do a few hours of shopping. Can anyone recommend some good shopping areas/stores that I have to check out? I'm from Ottawa, so we get the big stores up here, but we don't have Urban Outfitters, etc. I like modern stuff, and stuff with Victorian, feminine flair. I'm looking for clothes and maybe some knick-knacks and old books. I'll be on foot/TTC.

  1. on the civic holiday parts of toronto are open, due to it being a tourist area.

    Yorkville and Vaughan mills will most likely not be open.

    Eaton center will be, yonge street will be, parts of queen street and parts of bloor will be.

    yonge between front - college is good.

    queen between about yonge - spadina is really good shopping, bloor between yonge - spadina is also really good.

    there is an urban outfitters on yonge across the street from eatons center, will be open.

  2. The Eaton Centre has a lot of stores, but it is pretty generic.  Try Queen Street West.  It isn't far from the Eaton Centre and it has a lot of trendy/quirky stuff.  Also, Bloor Street West up around Yonge Street and Yonge Street around the Eaton Centre as well.  Have fun.

  3. vaughn mills is massive (google it). theres also markville mall which is more of a U.S. styled mall with some U.S. stores. yorkdale is also a huge one as well as the eaton centre. google them all

  4. Vaughn Mills

    Eaton Center --> MODERN

    Yorkdale --> MODERN

    Fairview Mall

    Promenade Mall-->MODERN

    Markville Mall

    all of them are great malls check them out!
