  1. my dance teacher made us do this the other day....

    sit on the floor in straddle put your hands together on the floor in front. lift your legs up alternating legs. this will make your legs a lot strong. also try it with one leg bent behind you lifting the straight leg up and down...switch legs...

    this helps your leg strength. it will help you make your legs faster...

  2. The only way to increase your leg speed in jive is to practice. I know that sounds cliche as h**l, but it's true. Try to do lots of kick-ball-change drills and make sure that when you kick your toes are pointed down, you get your knees nice and high, and your foot travels up the length of your leg, and then down your leg before flicking out.

  3. You need to strenghten your abdominal muscles and your feet. Do kicks and flicks drills. There is no way around it. When bringing the knee up, make sure you do it with your abs. Your stomach needs to visually go in at that time. Make sure your feet are pointed and your kickes are aimed. Don't just shake your leg as if you were shaking off some dirt.
