  1. A quick answer would be that  everyone needs to  "use it up, wear it out, or recycle it".....

I live "close to the earth" and I  believe that helps.  I grow my own veggies and fruit;  catch my own fish and crabs as well  and  dry, can or freeze the excess to use in the "off season."  I know it takes electric to freeze things but at least the food isn't trucked in from 1000 miles or more and the air isn't polluted.   I also use the energy efficient light bulbs.   If I do hand laundry I keep the rinse water , put it in a bucket, and go outside and water something.  I "buy American" rather than something sent in from overseas... Imay pay more for the Am. product but it saves fuel to transport an item to the U.S. and it saves on air pollution in the country of origin.... particularly if the product is "Made In China."     I recycle and post things on "FreeCycle" that I don't want/need and can't sell at a yardsale.  That keeps the landfills less full.    I use newspapers as the bottom layer of  mulch in my gardens (just the black and white sections,);  recycle old oil at the local garage or car store; keep my heat down in the winter and AC warmer in the summer; line dry my laundry;  buy cloths that don't need to be ironed saving time and electric; use solar powered lights outdoors as much as possible and rechargeable batteries indoors.   I don't keep "updating"  and "buying new" things all the time......don't really "need"  the latest in everything..... might "want" it but  don't "need" the very latest.

Everyone needs to become aware of the earth problems we're facing and get involved in a proactive way.

  2. Do cultivate vegetables for your consumption. Do not kill any living being. Do not build concrete buildings.

  3. I teach cycling, to encourage people back onto their bikes. And I recently made a map on google with our local fruit trees on it that are in public spaces so any one could pick the fruit. It is not complete or even done very well as I started it after autumn. It is open to edit so feel free if you know of any free and wild fruit.

  4. reduce water usage

recycle everything, paper, plastic, glass, aluminum etc.

use your own cloth bags for shopping

    carpool

look for "ozone friendly" products, they will be labeled

reduce plastic usage i.e. disposable bags like sandwich bags (it takes oil to make these products) use your washable food storage containers

    don't litter

try to make uses for things you would normally throw away

    thanks for being green!

  5. don't litter

    recycle everything

    drive a flex fuel car

    take only 5 minutes shower

  6. horray for all of you..I love you.keep it up.

    think globally /act locally

  7. It is the little things that you can change most easily. If everybody did them, then they would make a big difference.

Use a fly swat instead of fly sprays.

Only use a washing machine with a full load - a single cycle uses up to 100 litres of water.

Install a water but for your outside water needs

    Learn about low impact food

Turn off lights and appliances when you are not using them.

Walk or cycle if the journey is 2 miles or less.

Think.  Refuse (Don't buy it  Don't use it) Reuse. Repair. Recycle. In that order.

  8. Try to conserve as much electicity as possible. If you are not in a room, turn out the lights. Deffinatley want to recycle.

Also get your vehicle smoged i know it may sound crazy but smog is one of the worst things that can hurt the ozone layer.

I bought energy saving heaters, and energy saving lightbulbs. Those are a big help too.

Those are a few of the things you can do to help. :)

  9. i started by getting the energy light bulbs and replace all the old bulbs with them they are why more money but i like them so much more.also recycle try to keep the electric bill down and gas bill down that all helps

  10. Try to recycle,reuse and reduce. =)

Try not to throw litter anywhere, juz dump it into the bin =)

Save paper as paper come from trees.

Save electricity as this will save the natural resources left in the earth. :)

    Being green,starts from you :)

  11. take the public transport, off the light when not in use, dont litter, recycle stuff.

  12. Well just so you know, it isn't easy.  You have to change your life around a little and you have to give out a little more money.

First you can try changing your lightbulbs to fluorescent.  Better to do it now because we'll all have to use them by 2012.

If you have money and when you get a new car, go with a Hybrid.  Unless you are in California, get that new Hydrogen Cell Car from Honda.

And just try and get things that use less energy.  And do not keep chargers plugged in when you don't need them.

Try and take public transportation as much as you can.  Sometimes it isn't easy if you don't live in the right place.

Buy organic things such as paper.

Reuse bags for the grocery store.

Get ozone friendly sprays.  Like the hairspray, don't get that stuff that sprays like air freshener.  Get the wet stuff that squirts out.  Sometimes it is harder to use but it works the same.

Just google up Green Living or something and you should be finding products and ideas on how to start your new 'green' lifestyle.

And yes, we are screwed haha.  People don't want to switch because it is new and more expensive.

Also you can go to this website.  Yes, Walmart but you don't have to stop their, it just gives you ideas on products you can buy.

  13. Well I would talk to the Kermit the frog.

Be warned, I hear it isn't easy...

  14. well you could change your lifestyle completely like become vegan and never drive again, and makeover your house so its energy efficient, or you can make small improvements in your life and use less and re-use more, steer away from plastics and animal products, mainly beef, and use your car as little as possible, eat locally grown food, turn off the water and the lights..just common sense.
