  1. French kissing

    (a toungey*)

  2. I lived about 30 mins from Lille, and went there often.

For local customs...well I wouldn't say anything specific. It's really good though because they have the market, and you can get a bagette with tons of stuff on it for 3€. Their traditional food is some kind of pie that's made with smelly cheese, but it actually tastes very good. They also have a lot of mussel restaurants.

People in Lille are generally kind, and most of the ones that work in stores can speak English because when people in England are on vacation, they come to shop in Lille. So it's a requirement to know the basics.

It's just a very lovely town!

  3. Thee main thing to remenber about Lille is that although it has been part of France since the 17th (and on and off before that) it is really Flemish rather than French.

The food is Belgian and favorite dishes are moules (mussels) and waterzoï (a fish soup). And since what Americans called "French Fries" are really a Belgian dish they eat a lot of them in Lille (but with a mahonaise or beranaise type sauce instead of Ketchup). Like the Belgians they appreciate good beer as much if not more than wine.
