Hey so... I don't have much time to spend on a garden, but I would like to plant something that looks nice for under the window in the front yard. I am looking for something that basically takes care of it's self. Any bushes or flowers.. anything that would look pretty, but not be too much work?

  1. Hi:

There are many evergreen low maintenance shrubs that will do well under your window in the front yard. Here are a few suggestions:

Mop Cypress - small evergreen variegated shrub - tiny and long yellow and green leaves - great looking shrub

Chinese Pizazz - Loropetalum - The Ruby is a dwarf and has purple and green leaves year around. Pink flowers in spring and summer.

Many soft leaf Junipers will do well - Blue Owl, Blue Star are just a couple.

Indian Hawthorn - pink or white flowers in spring

Golden Euounymus - variegated yellow and green leaves year around.

There are many more too. I will link you to the gallery of plants section and the variety of plants section of my website. These and other low maintenance shrubs are on these pages with photos, climate zones and descriptions. I hope this information helps, and good luck to you. Have a great day!
