Jerusalem was never part of the old  kingdom of Israel in the North East. There were 2 Jewish kingdoms in the eastern part of Palestine: Judea in the south East with Jerusalem as its capital and Israel in the north east with Shkam as its capital. Both kingdoms were at war with each other and Israel was destroyed at end and Judea lasted only 80 years. The old Israel kingdom was godless kingdom where the worshiped many old Palestinian gods.

The term Israel was used to describe all the Jewish people but never the political state.

Jerusalem has the Western Wall.  It is conduit where religious people pour our prayers.

When outside of Israel one prays to East, when in Israel, one prays to Jerusalem, when in Jerusalem, one prays to the Western Wall, when at The Wall, one prays to the spot where the Holy of Holies was at.

The reason why that particular section of Wall is important versus other sections of The Wall, is that it is directly across from where the Holy of Holies (the Ark of the Covenant) was at.

People typically refer to Western Wall as that short section one sees in photos, but the actual Western Wall itself is over 1600 feet long with some parts underground.  At the commons section, it stands 105 feet high, with 62 feet above ground.

Jerusalem is mentioned many times in Jewish scripture.  Jerusalem is the Holiest site in all of Israel.  Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.

"If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand wither, let my tongue cleave to my palate if I do not remember you, if I do not set Jerusalem above my highest joy." (137, 5-7)

The Jewish Agency, after much soul-searching, agreed to accept internationalization in the hope that in the short-run it would protect the city from bloodshed and the new state from conflict. Since the partition resolution called for a referendum on the city's status after 10 years, and Jews comprised a substantial majority, the expectation was that the city would later be incorporated into Israel. The Arab states were as bitterly opposed to the internationalization of Jerusalem as they were to the rest of the partition plan.

In May 1948, Jordan invaded and occupied East Jerusalem, dividing the city for the first time in its history, and driving thousands of Jews — whose families had lived in the city for centuries — into exile. The UN partition plan, including its proposal that Jerusalem be internationalized, had been overtaken by events.

After the Arab states' rejection of UN Resolution 181 and, on December 11, 1948, UN Resolution 194, establishing the UN Conciliation Commission for Palestine, Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion declared that Israel would no longer accept the internationalization of Jerusalem.

From 1948-67, the city was divided between Israel and Jordan. Israel made western Jerusalem its capital; Jordan occupied the eastern section. Because Jordan — like all the Arab states at the time — maintained a state of war with Israel, the city became, in essence, two armed camps, replete with concrete walls and bunkers, barbed-wire fences, minefields and other military fortifications.

In 1967, Jordan ignored Israeli pleas to stay out of the Six-Day War and attacked the western part of the city. The Jordanians were routed by Israeli forces and driven out of East Jerusalem, allowing the city's unity to be restored. Teddy Kollek, Jerusalem’s mayor for 28 years, called the reunification of the city "the practical realization of the Zionist movement's goals."

Because Israel was defending itself from aggression in the 1948 and 1967 wars, international legal scholar Steven Schwebel wrote, it has a better claim to sovereignty over Jerusalem than its Arab neighbors.

The facts about Jerusalem are:

1- The kingdom of David did not last for more than 80 years.

2- The archaeological proofs of the Israeli existence in Jerusalem are nil. Even the wailing wall was built by the Romans as a part of the wall surrounding the city and not a part of the temple.

3- Even for the Temple, there is no single archaeological proof that it was there . Israelis had been digging for the last 40 years trying to locate it but al their efforts went in vain

4- Israelis had been always  disliked intruders to the city. They were  a  nomadic group which kept moving from country to country. Most likely they were originally Persians or Indians.

5- Israelis were always part of the population but never had the upper hand or recognized as the owners of the land till WWII.
