  1. Jerusalem was never part of the old  kingdom of Israel in the North East. There were 2 Jewish kingdoms in the eastern part of Palestine: Judea in the south East with Jerusalem as its capital and Israel in the north east with Shkam as its capital. Both kingdoms were at war with each other and Israel was destroyed at end and Judea lasted only 80 years. The old Israel kingdom was godless kingdom where the worshiped many old Palestinian gods.

The term Israel was used to describe all the Jewish people but never the political state.

The Zionist Historical propaganda is found in dandy answer where she used Israel as a state.

"Ever since King David made Jerusalem the capital of Israel more than 3,000 years ago, the city has played a central role in Jewish existence"

King David "PUOH" never called his kingdom Israel. It was called Judea .

    --------------------------------------...

1400 years ago the Moslems took over Jerusalem by a peace treaty which was singed by the head of the

Roman Church and the Moslem Leader called Omar Ibn Al Katab. The Romans Church demanded that: The protection of Christian Church, the protection of Christian's pilgrimage to the holly cities Jerusalem and Bethlehem and Nazareth ". not to allow Jews to live in Holly city of Jerusalem."

    ------------

The crusaders claimed that Moslems violated the peace treaty by allowing the killers of their god to live in Jerusalem.

When the crusaders occupied Jerusalem they killed, more than 70000 Moslems and 5000 Jews, they were all beheaded.

    ______

Today the Christian World dose not recognize the old occupied city of Jerusalem as Part of the Zionist state.

The Jewish World dose not recognize the occupied east Jerusalem as part of the Zionist state.

The Moslem world dose not recognizes the city of Jerusalem as part of the Zionist state.

Not one single country in the world recognize the occupied old eastern part of the old city of Jerusalem is part of the Zionist state not one.

  4. Jerusalem has the Western Wall.  It is conduit where religious people pour our prayers.

    Quote http://www.aish.com/wallcam/Why_the_Wall...

"Our mystical tradition teaches that all prayers from around the world ascend to the Wall, from where they then ascend to heaven. The Talmud says: "If someone is praying outside the Land of Israel, he should direct his heart in the direction of Israel. If the person is praying in Israel, he should direct his heart toward Jerusalem. Those in Jerusalem should direct their hearts to the Temple. As the Bible says, "And they will pray to You through the land which You gave to their fathers, the city which You chose, and the house which I have built in your name" (I Kings 8:48)."

When outside of Israel one prays to East, when in Israel, one prays to Jerusalem, when in Jerusalem, one prays to the Western Wall, when at The Wall, one prays to the spot where the Holy of Holies was at.

The reason why that particular section of Wall is important versus other sections of The Wall, is that it is directly across from where the Holy of Holies (the Ark of the Covenant) was at.

People typically refer to Western Wall as that short section one sees in photos, but the actual Western Wall itself is over 1600 feet long with some parts underground.  At the commons section, it stands 105 feet high, with 62 feet above ground.

Jerusalem is mentioned many times in Jewish scripture.  Jerusalem is the Holiest site in all of Israel.  Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.

"If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand wither, let my tongue cleave to my palate if I do not remember you, if I do not set Jerusalem above my highest joy." (137, 5-7)

There is much Israeli music regarding Jerusalem.  Hatikvah, The Hope, is national anthem of Israel:

and Ofra Haza's Jerusalem of Gold is classic:

This is a fact of Jerusalem, Israel.  Jewish people and the land are inseparable, it is a  living love story, for the reasons stated above and so many more.

Enjoy learning about Jerusalem, it is wonderful place.

  5. Jews have been living in Jerusalem continuously for nearly two millennia. They have constituted the largest single group of inhabitants there since the 1840's (map of Jerusalem in 1912) .Jerusalem contains the Western Wall of the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism.

Jerusalem was never the capital of any Arab entity. In fact, it was a backwater for most of Arab history. Jerusalem never served as a provincial capital under Muslim rule nor was it ever a Muslim cultural center. For Jews, the entire city is sacred, but Muslims revere a site — the Dome of the Rock — not the city. "To a Muslim," observed British writer Christopher Sykes, "there is a profound difference between Jerusalem and Mecca or Medina. The latter are holy places containing holy sites." Besides the Dome of the Rock, he noted, Jerusalem has no major Islamic significance.

Ever since King David made Jerusalem the capital of Israel more than 3,000 years ago, the city has played a central role in Jewish existence. The Western Wall in the Old City — the last remaining wall of the ancient Jewish Temple, the holiest site in Judaism — is the object of Jewish veneration and the focus of Jewish prayer. Three times a day, for thousands of years, Jews have prayed "To Jerusalem, thy city, shall we return with joy," and have repeated the Psalmist's oath: "If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning."

Jerusalem "has known only two periods of true greatness, and these have been separated by 2,000 years. Greatness has only happened under Jewish rule," Leon and Jill Uris wrote in Jerusalem. "This is so because the Jews have loved her the most, and have remained constant in that love throughout the centuries of their dispersion....It is the longest, deepest love affair in history."

When the United Nations took up the Palestine question in 1947, it recommended that all of Jerusalem be internationalized. The Vatican and many predominantly Catholic delegations pushed for this status, but a key reason for the UN decision was the Soviet Bloc's desire to embarrass Transjordan's King Abdullah and his British patrons by denying Abdullah control of the city.

The Jewish Agency, after much soul-searching, agreed to accept internationalization in the hope that in the short-run it would protect the city from bloodshed and the new state from conflict. Since the partition resolution called for a referendum on the city's status after 10 years, and Jews comprised a substantial majority, the expectation was that the city would later be incorporated into Israel. The Arab states were as bitterly opposed to the internationalization of Jerusalem as they were to the rest of the partition plan.

In May 1948, Jordan invaded and occupied East Jerusalem, dividing the city for the first time in its history, and driving thousands of Jews — whose families had lived in the city for centuries — into exile. The UN partition plan, including its proposal that Jerusalem be internationalized, had been overtaken by events.

After the Arab states' rejection of UN Resolution 181 and, on December 11, 1948, UN Resolution 194, establishing the UN Conciliation Commission for Palestine, Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion declared that Israel would no longer accept the internationalization of Jerusalem.

From 1948-67, the city was divided between Israel and Jordan. Israel made western Jerusalem its capital; Jordan occupied the eastern section. Because Jordan — like all the Arab states at the time — maintained a state of war with Israel, the city became, in essence, two armed camps, replete with concrete walls and bunkers, barbed-wire fences, minefields and other military fortifications.

In 1967, Jordan ignored Israeli pleas to stay out of the Six-Day War and attacked the western part of the city. The Jordanians were routed by Israeli forces and driven out of East Jerusalem, allowing the city's unity to be restored. Teddy Kollek, Jerusalem’s mayor for 28 years, called the reunification of the city "the practical realization of the Zionist movement's goals."

Because Israel was defending itself from aggression in the 1948 and 1967 wars, international legal scholar Steven Schwebel wrote, it has a better claim to sovereignty over Jerusalem than its Arab neighbors.

“For three thousand years, Jerusalem has been the center of Jewish hope and longing. No other city has played such a dominant role in the history, culture, religion and consciousness of a people as has Jerusalem in the life of Jewry and Judaism. Throughout centuries of exile, Jerusalem remained alive in the hearts of Jews everywhere as the focal point of Jewish history, the symbol of ancient glory, spiritual fulfillment and modern renewal. This heart and soul of the Jewish people engenders the thought that if you want one simple word to symbolize all of Jewish history, that word would be 'Jerusalem

  7. The facts about Jerusalem are:

1- The kingdom of David did not last for more than 80 years.

2- The archaeological proofs of the Israeli existence in Jerusalem are nil. Even the wailing wall was built by the Romans as a part of the wall surrounding the city and not a part of the temple.

3- Even for the Temple, there is no single archaeological proof that it was there . Israelis had been digging for the last 40 years trying to locate it but al their efforts went in vain

4- Israelis had been always  disliked intruders to the city. They were  a  nomadic group which kept moving from country to country. Most likely they were originally Persians or Indians.

5- Israelis were always part of the population but never had the upper hand or recognized as the owners of the land till WWII.
