  1. It may sound weird but i recommend listerine mouthwash for navel piercings, especially if it is red or inflamed. That is what i was recommended when i got mine done, and from time to time over the past 9 yrs ive had it when it got inflamed i did that n it clears up straight away. Because its an antiseptic, the lady that pierced it recommended it so its not harmful in anyway. Give it a try, but salt water is also equally effective. Use a shotglass and soak ur belly button in it for a while

    good luck! :)

  2. when you first get it pierced, skip the first day of cleaning. sounds weird, but it's best. then clean it when you get up in the morning, and in the evening every day for a month. do a salt water soak (sea salt is best..i dont know if table salt would heal it or hurt it, so i wouldnt risk it) once a day for three days afterwards, and after it stops being sore, push it up, soak a q-tip in salt water, and run it around the area of the piercing. hope this helps!

  3. You should really use sea salt.  Table salt is ok to use a couple times until you go to the store to get sea salt, but will not help to heal a navel piercing the way that sea salt soaks do.

On all my piercings I've used Satin soap (it's an anti-microbial soap), which works really well, but recently I began stretching my ears and I used sea salt soaks, which really seem to soothe and heal it faster.

Listerine has alcohol in it and most piercers are gonna suggest that you don't use rubbing alcohol, peroxide, etc., so why would you want to use Listerine on it?  Sounds like a crackpot piercer to me.
