My monitor is old and is on its anchor leg. I got it in 2000. My daughter is sending me one but it has not arrived yet. Sometimes I am working with a full screen and suddenly the screen goes to one-third of the screen Often when I try to scroll the page up or down, it fails to respond. At such times, it is usually the middle of something important; and it is frustrating. I try page up, page down, arrows, enter; but nothing budges. I have space as my daughter sent me a 500GB external drive and I moved most of my information to it. I am a 'dummy' as I have never had anyone explain to me the functions of the keys. I have researched them but what I found does not help my situation.I have an !BM keyboard[2000] Windows XP and an AMD Semprom tower containing the hard driv[at least 30-35GB left]. Are there shortcuts for scrolling when the mouse cannot be used to scroll?Sometimes the screen does not have arrows for scrolling with a mouse. At such times I cannot see Start to close down. Is there anyone who can help me please? Thank you.

  1. yeah theres click the page and press arrow keys, there should be 2 buttons that says page down/up,or u might need a new mouse or u need to ajust the monitor setting there should be buttons on th bottom of the screen try that

  2. It doesn't sound as if there's a problem with the monitor, but rather with the computer. You can occasionally use the arrow keys to navigate pages, but only some of the time. And if you can't see Start to shut down, then you can always hit the Windows key, then 'u', and then u again. But beyond that, I can't offer any more help. Good luck!

  3. i think its not the keyboard nor the mouse maybe its the monitor.. graphic interface problems upgrade CPU or change monitor if none try reformatting it ..or if here is still problem change everything.. or change one by one to know the cause.... or try PgUp or PgDn (page up or page down)
