ok, i have a school project and some of the questions we are allowed to research so here another one:

WHAT TYPE OF SOIL - SAND, POTTING SOIL, OR A LOCAL TOP SOIL- IS BEST FOR GROWING A PARTICULAR CROP?

  1. Adding fertilizer and calcium to the soil helps it be more productive.  Also, allowing the soil to lay fallow will give it time to revitalize itself.  Another method of soil improvement is to raise a "green manure" crop.   Farmers plant a crop like wheat, rye, ryegrass, or sweet clover, and after it grows for a while, they will plow it under to give nutrients to the soil.  Good topsoil cannot be beat for growing better crops.


  2. Crop rotation is also key.

    Different crops require different nutrients.

    Rotating crops is good for the general health of the crops.

    As a general rule uk farmers are resiting the use of fertilisers for organic methods, it's better for everyone !
