Hugo Chavez in Venezuela seems to be taking a page out of Marx's bible.  State ownership of property, taken without due compensation is typical socialism.  It is natural for a country to want control over its own destiny but no state works in a vacuum so the struggle will continue.  Another example seems to be Mugabe's Zimbabwe where it kicked out and stole from the minority whites but is currently in financial ruin because it is rightfully being held to account.
