  1. My doctor had me take Melatonin. It is an herbal supplement that imitates the chemical in your brain that makes you drowsy. You take one 1-3mg pill about 20 minutes before bedtime, and it should help you relax into being drowsy enough to sleep. My doctor recommended taking it once a night for 30 days to reset my sleep cycle.

Because it is an herbal supplement and not actual medication it has no side effects and is not addictive. It can also be found at any drug store, I bought mine at Walgreens for about $4-5.

  2. drinking warm milk and sometimes imagining a waterfall. it works for me.

  3. Melatonin like everyone else said and Valerian root.  You can get both at Walmart.  One warning about Valerian root is that it smells awful.

  4. Melatonin.  It is a hormone, not an herb. It increases serotonin.  You can also try 5 HTP, Tryptophan, or gaba...all are amino acids that increase serotonin.  Melatonin can either give you very vivid dreams or nightmares however.

  5. Hey.

I find eating grapes after dinner (the dark ones) helps. It contains Melatonin and is natural (and yummy). Or taking a couple of sips of red wine before bed time. I'm only 14 but I have trouble falling asleep and usually lay in bed for 3 - 4 hours before falling asleep. When I eat grapes after dinner, I fall asleep within 10 minutes. It sounds silly but it works! My mum's friend told me about it. She was just experimenting haha. Here's some real proof

    Good luck xx

  6. Chamomile tea should help.  Try and get on a regular schedule also.  Some people can relax with the TV (maybe something boring), a book or some music.

  7. Virgin coconut oil is suppost to help with insomnia.

  8. Natural remedies include warm milk, melatonin, valerian, 5-HTP and others that you can find in a web search for "natural sleep remedies".

  9. Try Taurine and magnesium supplement about an hour before bedtime.  Melatonin works great too but it gave me heart skips.

  10. I have suffered from insomnia for years and have only found one thing that helps me 5-HTP

It does what you want t sleep supplement to do....release or cause your body to create the chemical your body should naturally produce to sleep well Melatonin  I still have some off nights..but one b4 bed has helped more often than not...you can buy it for about 5 bucks/45 pills at your local walmart.  It is an amino acid.

Also look for the underlying problem..is it stress, depression, illness, disease, sleeping environment, change...etc and deal with that as well to get to the root of the whole problem not just the insomnia symptoms

Heres a great place to find out all you could about sleep, and how to make it better ........great study and also more resources and links on the site:http://www.bbc.co.uk/sn/tvradio/programm...

    Peace&Blessings&and good nights of rest 2 u
