I'm around 14 and I was thinking to get contacts but was worried if there are any bad things to it. I know that if u dont clean them well or if the lense is broken, u might get an infection or abrasion in ur eye, but are there any other negative things about it?

  1. they suck!!!!!!!! I just got them today and it is so uncomfortable taking them in and out, I know I'll get used to them , but right now they pretty much suck more than braces.

  2. Nope. I love them. I also sleep in mine for a week, then take them out for a day and then put them back in for another week. Don't listen to the ones saying it isn't safe. I have done this same process for 12 years.

  3. no. contacts are great. you cant feel them at all. i love my contacts. they are good to have! get them!!!!!!

  4. Here are some of my experiences:

I can only wear my contacts for a few hours at a time because they dry out my eyes and cause them to become red and irritated. Some people seem to be able to wear contacts for days at a time but I never could. If I tried to sleep with them on, they would become glued to my eyeballs and cause intense pain when I tried to open my eyes

Contacts don't provide the same sort of vision clarity as glasses or hard contact lenses

It's not always possible to tell which is the right side when you put them on

They are expensive. They're not as bad as they used to be but when you factor in the costs of eye exams, fittings, solutions, lens packages, and the like, they can cost you hundreds of dollars a pop

It can be difficult to apply makeup when you wear contact lenses. That's because if you mess up and accidentally smudge the makeup, you can accidentally get it into your eye

Contact lenses can tear and cause a great deal of discomfort. They can also absorb hazardous chemicals

  5. dont leave them on while you're sleeping because the protein can build up, your eyes are not open to oxygen, and it may affect your vision if this occurs repeatedly

  6. Some are uncomfortable , especially at first. They can slide off the cornea, and you have to find a mirror to replace them. They can fall all the way out, which starts a desperate search with everyone crawling around looking for them.

If you wear them longer than they are designed for, you can get a very uncomfortable eye irritation. They can abrade the cornea ( not common with soft contacts) Soft contacts may not correct an astigmatism.

It takes a special long wear contact to wear for a week, as one respondent does. It is better to remove them at night, clean them and sterilize them. What is at risk is your eye.
