What are some nice, but cheap cars?

If I was going to buy a cheap car, I'd look for a 4+ year old Subaru Outback or Forrester.  Reliable and AWD, good for winter.

Nissan sentra,s are also nice cars and cheap to insure,and operate,those are good cars to own,they give many years of good service,the gas mileage is really great on these cars,and they are cool  looking cars,good luck.

You might want to look at the Cheaper sibling of Cobalt. Its the AVEO.

Unless you want to go for the sub-compact segment, like Versa,fit or Yaris. Your best choice is Hyundai Accent or its Kia version.Don't look for Ford Focus unless you are going to sell it before warranty expires.

Try going to a car auction. You can get some pretty good deals on newer model cars and end up paying way less than you would at a dealership. Who knows, you might even find a cobalt there.
