I'm driving from santa barbara down to baja. I want to get about 2-3 hours into mexico before stopping for the night. I'm looking to avoid party towns or big cities. I just want a nice palapa to sit under and get crazy drunk, maybe do some skinny dipping. Any suggestions?

  1. Alisitos/La Mision. La Fonda hotel and Hotel La Mision are very nice, not too crowded, good food, palapas on terraces. Margaritas at Hotel La Mision are 1.50USD.

  2. How about Salsipuedes?  It's only an hour south of the Border and if you like camping on the beach, this could be a good place for you.  The surfing is excellent, and they also rent cabins if you don't feel like pitching a tent.  I'll attach a link to a site that has great pix to show you what Salispuedes looks like.  BTW if you are driving into Mexico don't forget to get the mexican insurance for your car, which you can get online or buy at the border.

    Have fun!
