I want to take my husband out for a nice dinner for his birthday. I also wanted to go to a restaurant where there were also some fun things to do for dressed up people.

  1. I've located a local list of restaurants that might help. You can narrow down the Maryland results by cities close to you. If you call nearby restaurants you can narrow down wich one would work best for you. http://www.restaurantreviewsratings.com/...

  2. the Melting Pot is in my opinion the best restaurant evvver.

i went there for my birthday this year and its a bit overpriced but its really worth it.

but if you find a different place to go, you should go to dessert there!

  3. Cocoa Lane on Main Street in Ellicott City( the historic district is so nice an d yummy!) Its a small restaurant with a nice roof top patio. Its open for lunch and dinner and late night the roof top patio becomes more of a bar. The rooftop eating area opens at 5pm.  You can begin the day walking around the main street then go for dinner.

  4. Inside of the city (All in NW):

1789 in Georgetown (fairly pricey and requires reservations generally).

Old Ebbitt Grill (across the street from the Treasury building/White House on the 16th street side near New York Ave.)  It's my favorite restaurant in the city, excellent cigar bar and traditional, local food.  Very classy, and often quite busy.  http://www.1789restaurant.com/main/index...

Sequoia K Street, very fancy, very well known (both for its high level clients and for its horrid service).  Good food though and it is an experience.

Equinox is off of New Hampshire.  It's also one of the mainstays for DC.

    The Mayflower Hotel

Off of New Hampshire.  The food offered by their restaurants is fairly standard for upper class hotels BUT the hotel has a historical value that is tremendous! It's also on New Hampshire (Take 17th Street North and follow the street, it turns into N.H.). The hotel was a favorite lunch spot for J. Edgar Hoover while he ran the FBI, was where the Truman Administration ran the US government before he moved into the set of townhouses across the street from the White House (WH was under construction).  It is also the hotel where Sptizer met up with Ashlee Dupree).

    Inside of Baltimore:

I would just stick to Phillips at the Inner Harbor.  Great crabcakes, great views, and friendly service (it is not a dressed up place though, the dress is quite casual).

Rusty Scupper is really quite bad.  The restaurant is on the opposite side of the inner harbor, the food is outright bad, the wait staff is arrogant, and the prices are outlandish.  The view is nice though.

  5. Inner Harbor, Baltimore:  The Rusty Scupper.

semi-formal dining for dinner, very good seafood

I'm not sure why the person above doesn't like it.  I ate there four times and enjoyed every experience.  The dip they bring with the bread is really delicious, and I found the wait-staff to be pleasant.

Yellowfin in Annapolis also has a great waterfront atmosphere and good seafood.

  6. cafe milano........

    mortons in georgetown

  7. Anything at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore
