I'm really into charity work and I want to start a club linked to a charity. Some charities allow student involvement and encourage students to create clubs and find creative ways to raise money for the chairty (eg. Invisible Children) My school already raises money towards Invisible Children and it has been successful.

  1. NetAid has programs specifically for high school students in North America who want to help in the developing world. NetAid is now a part of MeryCorps

TakingIT Global is another resource for young people in the USA who want to do something to affect the situation positively in developing countries

Neither are religiously-affiliated; *anyone* may participate.

  2. First of all, from what country are you from? Why did I ask this question? Simple ... I can only tell you some non-profit organizations based here ... the Philippines!  Here in the Philippines, we have lots of non-profit organizations like "CRIBS", "Bantay Bata of ABS-CBN" and there's the one that was founded by my family which is PVI (Pagkakaisa Volunteers INC.) and they have a yearly summer camp for the less fortunate mentally retarded children which they call, "Camp Pagkakaisa".  They have been going around the country and they are usually sponsored by kind-hearted companies like Nestle's Phils. and some government agencies like the Philippine Air Force whenever they need to fly to a province where they will hold their summer camp. This is a non-profit org and you can contact my brother, Mr. Reynaldo San Agustin, as he is the camp's director and PVI's founding head.  Our family have been doing this work for the past 10-15 years already. I am sending you my brother's cellular phone # +639175398085 if you are interested. They do accept volunteer students who would help them with their "summer campers" who are from indigent families and some are from government institution like Gaches, St. Joseph Copertino, etc... Or you can log on to ABS-CBN's Bantay Bata Foundation.
