  1. laziness - people don't want to put the effort into separating garbage, etc. people also want to drive everywhere.

and disposal.  people just want to throw stuff out.  ie swiffer vs. using a vacuum cleaner, paper towel vs. using a cloth.

also too much packaging, which is often to make theft harder.

and waste - water, energy, gas, etc.

i don't know the solution, but when you find out... please tell me.

  2. There are many obstacles, but here are a handful.  First, global warming, now acknowledged widely to be real, may have multiple causes, including those humans are responsible for and those for which we are not.  One question is: if we change the things we have "done wrong", will it make a difference, or will it just be a drop in the bucket.  It may be that we are causing pollution that raises the temperature, but it is only a problem because we are the opposite end of some ice age, for instance, that we cannot reverse.  A good analogy would be the mini-ice age that Europe experienced in the 1800's, which was exacerbated by industrial-age pollution.  They had separate causes.

A second problem lies in the determination of an alternate means of satisfying our energy needs.  There is not nearly enough wind, solar, ethanol natural gas and hydrogen power combined to replace the gasoline we consume, and even if we could, producing much of that energy requires other forms of energy that are polluting.

These are just two examples.  I am sure other answerers can think of more.

  3. prejeduced, and biased attitudes of          people who believe its in            Gods         hands, not ours, coupled to ignorence ,and indiference.

on top of  that greed ,and the fear of loosing money and power, are the obstacles to  finding solutions to climate change ,and even so ,we can do very little to change anything.

  4. Biggest obstatcle, not man made. What is being done: trying to destroy the economy.

  5. The worst obstacle is the overpopulation.

  6. The greatest obstacle is that "global warming" is fictional. Why not ask, "What are some obstacles in finding a solution to Sasquatch f***s in Pacific Northwest aquifers?" It is just as valid and the subject (Bigfoot) has been around longer.

    Hmm...I think I will!

  7. On a national and international basis - a perverse lack of LEADERSHIP. We 'citizens' generally do what is right - we just need a LEADER to get us all (people, industry, military, etc.) going in a unified and correct direction, telling us what and why and backing it all up with some carrots and big sticks.

  8. People are the biggest obstacle.  We are all now aware of global warming but individually do very little about it.  We think if we recycle our bits of paper or plastic, we've done our bit.  Then we get in our cars, burn our electricity, pour all our chemicals into our household waste systems.......Want me to go on?

  9. One biggest obstacle is that nobody knows.  They say they do, and that they have consensus (whatever?)

...but differing proposals have differing solutions.  Often conflicting.

  10. GREED

we need to have tax break for those that don't drive car and walk/bike/train to work

  11. the fact that some countries and people like the U.S. and Bush still won't admit that global warmings a problem
